America’s future will include a far more diverse young population, and a largely white older generation. The contrast raises important policy questions. Will the older generation pay for educating a younger generation that looks less like itself?
This NYT piece that highlights how the Census results show that Numbers of White Children Falling Fast raises some interesting points that might be more appropriate for a shrink to analyze rather than a political analyst. There’s a point where it actually borrows a theme from Buzz Bissinger’s Daily Beast story when it asks, “Will the older generation pay for educating a younger generation that looks less like itself?”
It’s crazy when you think about it. What could be more un-American? Is this a melting pot where all parts will eventually earn equal representation through numbers and societal influence, or a territory ruled by the invading army of the moment?
